Leith Hill infill development, North York

About this project

12-24 Leith Hill Road is an infill development in North York, Toronto, with a midrise building and several townhouse blocks, built for Starlight Investments. Fieldgate Construction Management (FCML) is the construction manager, and we are supplying and installing the sliding closet doors, glass and mirrors.

In the bathrooms, we supply and install tempered-glass shower and tub enclosures, each with one fixed sidelight and one door. For the closets, we install framed mirror sliding doors in the foyers and back-painted glass sliding doors elsewhere, with mirror sliding doors in the townhouse basement laundry closets. We also install the medicine-cabinet mirrors throughout the building, supply and install the powder-room mirrors in the townhomes, and have fitted a small number of interior sliding screens in select midrise suites.

The work started with a request for quotation covering the midrise and the townhome blocks, followed by a bid qualification and a site meeting before award. From there we worked from Fieldgate's drawing package and scope of work, submitted shop drawings for the tub and shower enclosures and for the sliding door systems, and built a mockup suite to confirm the shower glass and closet door design before the wider rollout.

As the design was refined through the project's site instructions, the door specification for individual blocks and units was updated in turn, and we revised our shop drawings to match, covering two-door and three-door sliding systems in both mirror and back-painted glass.

We measured on site before quoting, so the number the client approved was the number they paid. Work started after the deposit and the installation was done by York's own crew.
